Christmas in Cape Town, what’s better than that? With beautiful weather and tons of Christmas activities to do, Cape Town during the Christmas month is the place to be. Here are some Christmas activities to do during December that will keep you busy.

Carols by candlelight
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens hosts Carols at Kirstenbosch, which is a fundraising initiative of the Rotary Club of Kirstenbosch. Families can picnic on the luscious lawns whilst singing along to various Christmas carols.

Christmas markets
Check out the many Christmas markets around the cape such as the Cape Gift Market at the Sea Point City Hall, the Fab Ideas Christmas Market in Kommetjie, the Lourensford Christmas Market or the Stellenbosch Kersmark. You are guaranteed to find Christmas crafts, decorations, baked goods, festive food and more.

Festival of lights
Every December Adderley Street in Cape Town is lit up with festive lights. You can go look at the lights any night during the festive season but it is worth going to the switching on of the lights ceremony. The ceremony hosts a huge street party with street stalls selling everything from food to gifts to decorations.

Santa’s village
Visit Santa and his workers in the North Pole at the V&A Waterfront. Kids can meet Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas or partake in Christmas craft activities.

Christmas movies
Enjoy watching classic Christmas movies at the Galileo Open Air Cinema at the Meerendal Wine Estate. Enjoy the evening lounging on the grass with a picnic and cinema snacks while out in beautiful nature.
